Online course of Academic Italian

The online course of Academic Italian is a self-study course with an online tutor, which is aimed at non-Italian students, PhD students, researchers and visiting professors at UNIMORE. The aim of the course is to provide them with tailored support for the improvement and enhancement of their Italian language competences in the academic field.

How is the course structured?

The course consists of thematic units, each centered on the development of specific abilities. The first and the second editions of the course revolve around two thematic units:

  1. Part A: WRITTEN PRODUCTION IN THE ACADEMIC FIELD
  2. Part B: ORAL INTERACTION IN ACADEMIC CONTEXTS

Each unit contains

  • explanatory videos
  • lessons and grammar practice
  • vocabulary tables
  • exercises
  • grammar quizzes

At the end of each unit (or when needed, upon agreement with the tutor), students can book an online one-on-one meeting with our Italian Language Instructor, Dr Mirella Pederzoli, who will also be the course tutor. During each meeting, students will be able to ask for general feedback on their course progression, clarifications and explanations of course topics or tailored support for specific difficulties.

More units will be progressively added.

Are there any prerequisites?

To be able to follow the course, students must possess prior Italian language competences at least at a B1 level of the CEFR.

How can I register for the course?

In a.y. 2025/26, two editions of the course will take place:

  • November-December 2025
  • February-March 2026

Before the start of each edition, registrations will be open on a dedicated moodle page for a week. All activities will be available from the course start date until the course end date. We suggest dedicating 3 weeks to completing Part A and 2 weeks to completing Part B. All details about registration and course start/end dates, including the suggested week/unit distribution, are available in the charts below.
